Import, de-duplicate and grow your directory listings with AI
Directories.ai lets your AI assistant import rows from your connected database using a saved column mapping, bulk-create up to 100 listings per call, find probable duplicates, and propose new businesses into a review queue so nothing is added without your approval. Re-running an import updates existing rows instead of duplicating them.
Bring existing data in safely
The import flow is deliberately stepwise: explore the connected database, preview a table, see which listing or article fields a column can map to, save the mapping, then run it. Saving a mapping imports nothing, and running it is repeatable: previously imported rows are updated, not duplicated, so a mistake is cheap to fix. Imports only read from the connected database and never write back to it.
- list_database_tables and preview_database_table to explore
- get_import_target_schema to see what fields exist
- save_import_mapping, then run_import_mapping
- Claims made on listings sync back through imports
Add and tidy listings in bulk
bulk_create_listings takes up to 100 listings per call, including contact details, location, pricing, SEO fields, media and custom fields. set_listings_status publishes or archives many at once, and set_listing_categories files them under the right categories. find_duplicate_listings flags probable duplicates by shared phone or website, or by name plus another field.
Let agents discover, let people decide
An agent can research businesses that belong in your directory and add them with propose_discovered_listing. They wait in a review queue; approving one creates a listing. This keeps growth automated and quality in your hands.
Import a spreadsheet or database
- 1
Connect your AI assistant
Add https://directories.ai/mcp to Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP client and sign in with OAuth (or paste an organization API key if your client only supports static headers). The assistant can then only reach your own organization’s directories.
- 2
Look at the source data
Have the assistant list tables and preview rows so it understands the columns.
list_database_tablespreview_database_table - 3
Map it to listing fields
Save a mapping from columns to listing fields, review it, then run it.
get_import_target_schemasave_import_mappingrun_import_mapping - 4
Clean up afterwards
Find duplicates, fix weak records and categorize the new listings.

Try asking your assistant
- “Look at the tables in my connected database and map the businesses table to listings. Show me the mapping before running it.”
- “Find probable duplicate listings and tell me which to merge or archive.”
- “Research 20 plumbers in Denver that belong in this directory and queue them for my review.”

Frequently asked questions
Will an import overwrite or write to my source database?
No. Imports only read from the connected database.
What happens if I run an import twice?
Previously imported rows are updated rather than duplicated, so re-running after fixing a mapping is safe.
Can I migrate from WordPress?
Yes, and migration support is available for WordPress, custom platforms and CSV files. See the migration page for the process.
