1. Information Collection
We collect information that you provide directly to us when you create an account, purchase a subscription, or communicate with us. This information may include your name, email address, payment information, and directory content.
2. Use of Information
We use the information we collect to operate, maintain, and improve our services, to process your transactions, to send you related information, including confirmations, invoices, technical notices, updates, security alerts, and support and administrative messages.
3. User Data & AI Models
Data Ownership: You retain full ownership of all data, content, and listings you upload to your directories. We do not claim ownership rights to your data.
AI Usage: By using our AI features (including but not limited to content generation, listing enrichment, and SEO optimization), you acknowledge that your input data may be processed by third-party AI models (such as OpenAI and Anthropic) to generate results. We do not use your proprietary data to train these public foundation models. Your data remains isolated to your account context.
4. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to help protect information about you from loss, theft, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest.
5. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track the activity on our Service and hold certain information. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent.
5a. AI Clients and the MCP Connector
When you connect Claude, ChatGPT or another AI client to Directories.ai through our MCP server, that client sends us the tool calls you or it choose to make, authenticated with your organization's credentials. We process those calls only to read or change your own directories, and record each change in your directory's activity log so you can review it. We do not receive your conversations with the AI client, only the tool calls it sends us. What the AI client itself does with data it reads from us is governed by that client provider's own privacy policy.
5b. Directory Visitor Tracking
If a directory owner installs our tracking script on their site, it records page views, listing views, searches, messages and outbound clicks for that directory. It sets no cookies and uses no persistent identifier: the session id is a random token kept in the visitor's browser tab and discarded when the tab closes. The page URL and referring URL are stored with each event. If the owner adds a Google Analytics 4 Measurement ID, the same events are also sent to Google under the owner's own Google Analytics account and Google's terms.
6. Third-Party Services
We may employ third-party companies and individuals to facilitate our Service ("Service Providers"), to provide the Service on our behalf, to perform Service-related services or to assist us in analyzing how our Service is used. These third parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
